For contractors, shuttering ply is a cost-per-pour decision, not a cost-per-sheet one. A cheaper board surviving 6 pours can cost more than a premium one lasting 14.
What "repetitions" really means
| Board weight | Typical repetitions | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| ~30 kg | 7 – 12 pours | Slabs, columns, residential |
| ~34 kg | up to 14 pours | Heavy, repeated structural work |
Storage and handling matter as much as the board: sealed edges, flat stacking and gentle de-shuttering add pours; careless handling halves them.
Film-faced plywood vs WPC/PVC shuttering
Film-faced plywood gives a clean finish and good repetitions at moderate price. WPC/PVC shuttering can exceed 50 repetitions and is fully waterproof, but costs more upfront. Many sites mix both.
Compare on cost-per-pour: a ₹1,600 board at 8 pours = ₹200/pour; a ₹2,200 board at 14 pours = ₹157/pour — the "expensive" board is cheaper.
Get more pours per sheet
Seal cut edges, apply shuttering oil before each pour, avoid over-vibration, de-shutter carefully, and store flat and dry.

How many times can shuttering ply be reused?
Film-faced boards give 7–12 (≈30 kg) up to 14 (≈34 kg). WPC/PVC shuttering can exceed 50. Good handling extends all of these.
Which is better, plywood or WPC for shuttering?
Plywood is cheaper and great for complex formwork; WPC/PVC lasts far longer but costs more. Compare on cost-per-pour.
What thickness is shuttering ply?
12 mm is most common; thicker boards are used for heavy structural formwork.
